Individual Therapy

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

— Anais Nin

I currently offer remote individual psychotherapy services to adults across the province of Ontario. Online and phone sessions are available.

During the intake process, which often takes between 1-2 sessions, we will take some time to get to know one another, explore the concerns bringing you to therapy as well as your personal history, and then discuss your goals, including what you want to get out of the therapy process.

It’s okay if you don’t know exactly what your goals are; we’ll figure it out together. We’ll also look at the strengths and resources you already possess (and there is always something, trust me) and what you might need along the way to help you reach your goals. We’ll come up with an initial plan and begin our journey together from there.

We’ll also pause throughout the course of therapy to re-assess our work together, your goals, and progress towards them (acknowledging that progress is NOT linear and our focus/goals can change and evolve over time).

  • Inner child healing

How Therapy Can Help

While specific goals and outcomes for therapy are unique to each person and determined collaboratively between client and therapist, some of the benefits to engaging in therapy include:

  • Having a safe, respectful and grounded space in which you can show up, just as you are, to be seen, heard, and understood.

  • Building your resiliency and resources to move through life’s difficult circumstances with a greater sense of confidence, meaning, and ease.

  • Feeling more calm, present, and in greater control of your own responses and actions.

  • Getting to the root cause(s) of the issues you are facing and, where needed, healing the trauma wounds that can become trapped in the mind and body.

  • Developing a greater understanding, compassion, and acceptance for all parts of yourself (because there are no “bad” parts).

  • Reconnecting to your true Self, which is often underneath all the “stuff” waiting to be embraced and expressed to the world.

  • Making healthy changes and choices so that you are building and living a life that feels meaningful, nourishing, and authentic to you.

  • Experiencing healthier relationships - with yourself and with others.

  • Feeling more self-confident, worthy, and self-assured in your own needs, boundaries, and desires.

  • Finding your spiritual vitality - your deep connection and belonging to this world and life.

The Goodness of Fit

The therapeutic relationship has been shown to be one of the most important factors in the success of therapeutic work. I truly believe relationships heal, and when the therapeutic relationship has a strong rapport and attunement, and is rooted in mutual respect and positive regard, the relationship itself can be accessed as a tool and resource for exploration, healing, and growth.

For this reason, it’s important and highly encouraged that you speak with all potential therapists/healers before starting your work, so that both of you can make an informed assessment of whether it is a good fit for your needs and the support you are looking for.

To allow for this opportunity I offer a 20-minute complimentary phone consultation where we can discuss what’s bringing you to therapy, initial thoughts on goals and priorities, and anything else that feels important. This gives both of us the chance to determine if working with me is going to best support you on your journey. If I am not the best person to help you then I would want you to know this from the start, saving you precious time, energy, and money.

If after reading through my website you feel a connection to my personality, services, approach and treatment areas and would like to discuss working together I would love to hear from you. Questions are always welcome.
