“Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about un-becoming everything that isn’t really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.”

— Paulo Coehlo

Hello and welcome. I’m glad you’re here.

This business of being human is complex, and the journey of life can, at times, be challenging, messy, uncertain and downright painful. But no matter the situation, there is a way through, and you don’t have to walk it alone. In fact, you were never meant to.

It may not be our first inclination, but when we courageously turn toward the uncomfortable, make the unconscious conscious and allow ourselves to be with and befriend the parts of ourselves that are struggling, we can finally begin to unravel the threads and find our way.

If you’ve found yourself here because you’re feeling called to explore, understand and love yourself (and others) more deeply and authentically and to sort through the challenges you’re facing in life, I’d be honoured to explore and sort with you.

I am here to offer a compassionate presence and non-judgmental space as you take steps to improve your health and life and to walk alongside you on this unfolding and winding path of healing, transformation and wholeness.

As we make this courageous U-turn inward, it truly is a journey Home. Home to the fullest and most authentic expression of ourselves. Home to our bodies. Home to our Soul and Spirit. And Home to each other in this interconnected web of life.

Hi. I’m Melissa.

I’m a Registered Social Worker, Integrative Psychotherapist, and Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher.

I approach my work not just as a professional therapist with education and training but as a fellow human who knows what it’s like to face, struggle and ride the ever-changing tides of life.

I’m here to help you with:

  • Healing the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wounds of the past so you can feel grounded and connected in the present and can move forward with your life.

  • Releasing patterns, beliefs, traumatic imprints and versions of yourself that do not serve your well-being so that you can think, feel, and act in ways that are healthy and authentic to who you truly are and want to be.

  • Re-claiming and Re-integrating the parts of yourself that may have been lost or put away in order to survive or fit in.

  • Accepting with mindfulness and compassion all of what it means to be human and what it means to be authentically YOU (the light and the shadow, the joys and the struggles).

  • Remembering and Embracing your true Self, including your unique potential, purpose, inherent worthiness, creativity, and deep interconnection to the greater web of life.

  • Discovering more meaning, joy, and peace in your life, whatever that looks like for you as an individual.

  • Strengthening and Optimizing your mental and emotional resiliency, flexibility and capacity so that you can face and move through your life’s journey feeling more grounded, confident and resourceful.

Land Acknowledgement

It is essential I acknowledge that as a person of settler ancestry I have the privilege of living, learning, playing and working on the Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas and the territory that is covered by the Williams Treaties. This acknowledgement does not function as closure, resignation, or acceptance of the structural conditions of settler colonialism that remain in effect today. May it serve as a recognition of truth and privilege, an offer of deep gratitude to the land and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, and one small part in the starting point for creating respectful and reciprocal relationships.
